Corpsmembers serving in America’s National Parks protect our great natural heritage in the proud tradition of the Civilian Conservation Corps

Public Lands Corps (PLC) Corpsmembers restore and protect the rugged majesty of America’s National Parks.

In PLC Corps across America, crews of over 2000 Corpsmembers build and maintain trails far into remote areas, prevent wildfires by clearing fire fuels, root out invasive species, and add features that keep visitors safe. PLC service creates healthy and safe environments for recreation and exercise—creating places where visitors can travel deeply into the natural beauty of these majestic parks without doing damage to our national heritage.

PLC is as cost-effective for the National Park Service as for the Corps, who provide well-trained crews with adult leaders and a 25 percent non-federal match for each project. In addition, PLC creates a pipeline of skilled and diverse recruits, the next generation of environmental stewards that can be hired non-competitively by the National Park Service.

PLC is a program in partnership with the National Park Service, funded since 1997 through visitor fees to National Parks.
